An honest, well-kept three-cabin example of Axel Mohnhaupt's Bavaria 1060 — one of the early cruisers that built Bavaria Yachtbau's reputation for solidly constructed, easily handled family yachts. Built in Germany in 1984 and privately owned, she pairs a masthead sloop rig with a warm mahogany interior offering three separate cabins and eight berths on a 10.60-metre hull, and she comes to the market with a list of recent renewals that leaves little for a new owner to do before the coming season.
On deck, a single wheel with pedestal compass and an emergency tiller, teak-slatted cockpit seating and a sprayhood and bimini both new in 2023 make for a sheltered, comfortable cockpit. The rig was renewed in 2018 — standing rigging, furling genoa and lazy jacks — with the slab-reefed mainsail kept simple and easy to handle. A Lewmar Pro Series 1000 electric windlass with 8 mm chain takes the effort out of anchoring, and a cold deck shower is fitted for rinsing off after a swim.
Below, the layout is the classic arrangement of the type: a forward V-berth cabin, a saloon with dining table and settee berths, a galley with cooker and oven, a dedicated navigation station, a heads compartment with manual WC and holding tank, and two aft double cabins to port and starboard. 12V and 220V sockets are fitted, the service and starter batteries were both replaced in 2022 and a Victron battery monitor keeps an eye on the house bank.
Power comes from a Volvo Penta 28 hp diesel turning a new three-bladed Volvo fixed-pitch propeller (2025). The running and deck lights, mast cable, VHF aerial and cable were all renewed in 2025. Navigation equipment includes a Standard Horizon CP180Y GPS plotter, Nautech Autohelm 3000 autopilot, Silva 510 VHF/DSC, Clipper Duet echo sounder and an Olympic 135 magnetic compass, and an EPIRB is carried. A Mercury Quicksilver 2.70 m tender (2024) with a Honda 2.3 hp outboard completes the package.
